The city of Valencia was established on the southern bank of the Turia in 138 BC, which is considered the date of its birth. The Roman Wall ran from the Cathedral, original nucleus around which the city developed, to the present building in Plaza de la Reina nº 20, in whose basement was found a column shaft, presumably Roman, which is displayed in the vestibule.
In the year 718 the Arabs arrived in the city, settling there for five centuries, giving it the typical Muslim layout of narrow winding streets.
In September 1238 James I conquered the city, and the modification of the layout of the streets began, along with the construction of palaces and official buildings, always taking the Cathedral as a reference point.

"LA SEU" NEIGHBOURHOOD

"La Seu" (in Spanish"La Sede" (the headquarters) and, more correctly, "La Catedral" (the Cathedral)) is a neighbourhood belonging to the district CiutatVella.
La Seuis the oldest neighbourhood of Valencia and roughly coincides with the boundaries of the Roman ValentiaEdetanorum. It was also the centre of the AndalusianBalansiya. It is called La Seubecause it is the neighbourhood where the Cathedral is located.
It also houses the headquarters of the Regional Parliament and Government, thus being the centre of the political and religious life of the region of Valencia.Plaza de la Reinais one of the city's most emblematic squares. It is the site of the region's kilometre zero.
The first plan we have reference to, drawn up by Dr.Tomas Vicente Tosca, dates from the 18th century and already shows the current location of the building.

PLAZA DE LA REINA 20

In its current state, it dates from 1994. Any building in a Historic Centre is the cumulative result of many interventions. In our case, we started from a group of four buildings, of which only nº 20 was preserved. The other three were not protected and they were small vertical properties each with a frontage of about 3 to 4 metres. Each house belonged to a different owner. This structure of the property was reflected in the three bays of the new part. The commercial part is on the ground floor and first floor. Above this is the office and home of the architect.

The protected building is from the late 19th and early 20th century. The facades were renovated and the interior rebuilt with the same techniques of solid wood beams and joists joined by ceramic vaults. We used Burma teak and handmade solid clay bricks recovered from demolitions.

You can see the fingerprints of the hands that produced them about two hundred years ago.
The new building uses steel columns and was clad with flamed natural Borriol stone, A.Guesdon, 1858.

NATURAL AREAS

Valencia has made the leap to modernity without turning its back on its roots. This is one of the key aspects that make Valencia one of the best cities in the world to live in. It is a place full of contrasts with attractive natural areas along the coast and in the mountains. Malvarrosa beach

An urban beach with an approximate length of 1,200 metres and an average width of 135 metres of fine golden sand. Equipped with numerous services and games.

Saler beach

Located south of the city, in the heart of the Albufera Natural Park, this 2,600 metre long beach of fine golden sand is one of the most popular beaches of Valencia.

Devesa beach

Located in the heart of the Albufera Natural Park, between the 'ruffs' ofPucholandPerellonet, this beach is the city's only wild beach. With a length of 5,000 metres, it is located in the most protected area of the AlbuferaNatural Park. The extraordinary natural environment, where lagoons and "malladas" (depressions between dunes) intermingle with all types of vegetation – pines, palmettos, kermes, mastic and honeysuckle – that gives shelter to numerous bird species, makes it particularly attractive as a nature reserve.

The current state of the building dates from 1994. This work began with a group of four buildings as shown by the composition of the facade. The high quality of design and the luxury of the materials used by the architect in his own home and studio make this building a unique architectural exercise. It is located in the Cathedral neighbourhood, centre of the political, religious and cultural life of the city and in the Plaza de la Reina, one of the most emblematic squares in the city of Valencia.
